Excessive oil consumption

I have a riding buddy who recently purchased a 2010 K GT 1300. He has used 2 quarts of oil in 2,000 miles. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Re: Excessive oil consumption

My 09 1300GT used one qt in the first 6K and about 1/2 qt the second 6k. Now it uses less than 1/4 qt in the third 6k.
How many miles on your friend's ride? If new, give it a chance.

Re: Excessive oil consumption

Might check out #1 in the microfiche. I think that's the equivalent of a PCV valve. If defective it could cause excesssive oil use. Presuming the motor's in good shape, I would start there.

Thanks for the reply. It had 36,000 on it when he bought it, he had the 36,000 mile maintenance done before he brought it home. Riding behind him I could not see any smoking. The motor seems otherwise strong.

Re: Excessive oil consumption

Has your buddy's oil consumption been resolved?
