k1300GT Alarm Transfer to GS

Hi,

I have a k1300GT with the BMW dealer fitted alarm which was an optional extra when I bout the bike. I'm looking at getting a new R1200GS Adventure. Is it possible to transfer the alrm to the new bike? I guess the dealer might need to do this though.

Thanks in advance

Harry

Re: k1300GT Alarm Transfer to GS

Assuming it can be done, I'm wondering how much you'd actually be saving. The alarm is currently installed on your present bike, correct? How much would the labor cost be to remove it from your bike in order to be able to install it on the other bike?

Of course, with BMW's prices, you might very well be ahead after it's said and done.

Just something to ponder.

If its the factory alarm system I doubt you'll save anything by the time you pay a dealer.

You can install your own pretty easily using any one of several good aftermarket systems if you want an alarm on your new one- less than factory.

On the latest bikes, they've combined the electronics for tire pressure monitoring with the electronics for the alarm system.
