Metzeler Z8 Interacts

Just had these fitted and so far they seem great, my tyre fitter noted that when he put 2.5/2.9 bar in the fr & rr tyres by his calibrated gauge the onboard TPC monitors read 2.3 & 2.7 bar respectively, now I know this I'll just use 2.3 & 2.7 as the base line ... perhaps having the .2 bar overfill will help the tyres last longer

Re: Metzeler Z8 Interacts

Are these the replacement for the Z6? How are they different?

Yes

Z8 Spec

Usual claims, longer lasting, better grip, better feedback. My K had Z6's (non interact) on from new the Interact tech is something to do with the type of belting used.

Re: Metzeler Z8 Interacts

Thanks. I'll be interested to hear how it handles and wears compared to the Z6. I always liked Metzelers but the Z6 went away too fast for me. I could only get about 5000 miles out of them. I've been using Michelin PR2s and can get about 7000 out of those.

I've never had more than 4000 miles from any bike tyre over 35 years of all sizes of bike and makes of tyres lol

The Z6's did the same 4000 as did the Avon Storms I replaced them with, I was going to try the PR2's but the tyre dealers were out of stock so went for the Z8's. I'm hoping I can get decent mileage from them as in the UK the price of tyres for the KGT's equates to about 390 US dollars ... alway puzzles me how Avon, being a British company, can sell tyres cheaper in the US than the UK

Re: Metzeler Z8 Interacts

It's not just Avon . . . have you priced Triumphs lately?

A British engineer friend of mine who was working in the US bought a new Triumph, rode it for 6 months, then shipped it back home when his assignment ended. And still ended up saving a couple thousand pounds, on a bike that was built practically within sight of his house.

My relevant story was planning for a long weekend in Germany back when I was working in Wales. I went to a rental car site, put in all my details, including my Welsh address, and got a quote. On a whim I backed up a few pages and changed to my US address. Everything else was identical - the dates, the car type, the pickup location at a German airport, even the computer I was using was still the same one located in Wales.

The "new" quote came back at almost half the cost. Just because they now thought I was American instead of British. Or maybe it was just Welsh.

Yeah, you Brits have been getting screwed for a long time, but musn't grumble . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

No, it's because as a culture, you put up with it, so they keep doing it.

Maybe you should have nationwide "strike weeks" like they do in France? As long as it doesn't affect afternoon tea, of course.
