Cool question about Electronic Suspension

Those of you who have it I am, what with it being offered on the 1600 bikes, I am wondering what is the life expectancy of the unit and the cost to replace? Are there after market products offered, or is this only replaced by BMW?

I am trying to get a feel for after purchase costs and upkeep!

There are aftermarket alternatives, including one which takes the control mechanism off the top of the shock and grafts it onto their aftermarket shock so as to retain the adjustability. I'd suggest a search in the R12RT forum for a few posts on the subject. IIRC, cost is in the "a set of Ohlins" range.

Re: question about Electronic Suspension

I don't know about the aftermarket items but OEM will be very expensive. Longevity would depend on how hard you pound your suspension. If you don't ride that extreme, you might never notice the difference. I like mine.
