Run For The Wall & Rolling Thunder

After a tough 6,699 miles, I'm home!
I rode my '07 K1200GT motorcycle, along with a best friend (rides an LT), from Southern Cal. to Washington DC for the Rolling Thunder Memorial Day ride. We left Rancho Cucamonga May 19th and arrived in DC May 29th.
Run For The Wall is an MIA/POW organization that sponsers and maintains the yearly trek from California to DC stopping in small towns USA along the way.
This was my first time to DC and to the Wall.

I had absolutely NO problems with my bike tho I was concerned about both the final drive and cam tensioner. I had previously had the tensioner replaced with the new type tensioner and just had had the 18,000 warranty check done which includes changing the oil in the final drive. I did take the bike in for a complete safety check prior to leaving for Rancho Cucamonga and there were no issues. My partners LT's final drive puked in Louisville Kentucky - we got it replaced & cought up to the group in West Virginia in time to ride into Arlington with them.

Couple of pics.

Re: Run For The Wall & Rolling Thunder

Thanks - a good time was had by all!

And America IS alive and well in in "small town" USA. These people went completely out of their way to make us welcome. Much flag waving, cheering, & waving by all the adults & kids. Most meals were free & done up by the local VFW's or American Legions.
Might do it again.

Re: Run For The Wall & Rolling Thunder

Bruce..
I made "the run" in 86. I am still processing all the powerful experiences.... and yes, the emotions.

Each year I 'plan' to re-run.... but things haven't worked out... so, my role is one of support....

May God bless ALL of our military men and women.. our COUNTRYMEN.... who selflessly serve.
