Re: need help

That was very nice of you!
Some people don't like to have others touch their bikes...is he like that?
If so, why not surprise him with the battery and then suggest that the two of you do it together.
If it was me, I would like that a lot.
Merry Christmas!!

Re: need help

Electricity is pretty unforgiving and if you've not changed the battery before, a mistake can be either dangerous and/or expensive. Put a bow on it and place it under the tree.

Re: need help

i've changed plenty of batteries and i'll have a friend that has done a lot of work on bikes helping me, and my dad never has time to work on it as much as i'd love to do it with him. this way he could go out and at least ride it before he had to go back to work. i remember him saying it was hard to get to the battery and was just wondering if someone knew how to get to the battery

Re: need help

My 2008 GT's battery is right in front of the fuel tank filler. Two TORX bolts, lift off the cover. It couldn't be easier, easiest battery placement of any motorcycle I've ever had.

While you're at it, buy a Battery Tender and install its pig tail. Useful for the Battery Tender hook up as well as all your other gadgets, such as a GPS which can mount right above the battery on the handle bars.

Remember, always disconnect the ground (-negative) wire first!!! A piece of cake.

Ride fast. Take chances.

Re: need help

If you can change a car bateery this is no different.

As with most cars there is a clamp to hold the battery down.

And the cables to be removed.

If I can do it...you can,

The pigtails are a nice idea.

Re: need help

Note that the bike is a 2003 GT, which is the older Flying Brick version.

I'm not sure what it takes to change the battery on a Brick GT, but I'm sure someone here knows.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Re: need help

Take off the negative terminal first and put the negative back on last.
