Software Update for K1300GT

Just got a call from my dealer that BMW has released a software update for the GT. A portion of what this is supposed to address is the idling problems and the engine stalling/dying issue. They put it on one bike so far and results have been good. I'm going to try to get mine in for it next week.

Re: Software Update for K1300GT

For the K1300GT only, or for the K12 bikes as well?

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Only for the K1300(S)(GT). The BMS-K (Motronic) is different on the 1300.

To add to Ken's posting of the recall info, the problem is quite intermittent. Some bikes do it all the time and others very infrequently. The symptom is that when the engine is returned to idle after disengaging the clutch, the engine will occasionally stall. It seems to only affect the engine in this narrow circumstance. An idling engine will not quit, only when returning to idle from partial throttle. It is also tough to duplicate - there is no set of circumstances that will always duplicate the symptom. It is an anomaly affecting only the K1300 series of engines.

My GT does it very intermittently, Michelle's S does it more frequently.

Re: Software Update for K1300GT

That gets a recall but a rear end blowing oil over your rear tire does not?

Re: Software Update for K1300GT

I guess they could come up with a reliable fix for this one.

BTW - it works great and throttle response seems to be greatly improved from off throttle at low RPMs. I haven't had a chance to go out and play with it extensively but the mechanics at the shop were impressed with the difference.
