Went out and did it!!!!

After all the reviews, after all the read blogs - I went for a road test on the KGT 1300.

WOW - what a bike

So after some extremely fair and equitable trading discussions with the awesome folks at Max BMW in NH I am now a new owner of a Apple Red KGT 1300.

What an incredible ride, i knew it was going to be fast and it is holy [email protected] fast, but what sold it was the low/slow speed manners.

Coming from an RT I notice slightly more weight (the power totally compensates for the additional mass) and it is a bit breezier - but i like that. And although the RT has quicker steering the GT is by no means a slouch.

The other thing I like is the seat (yes stock BMW) it is firmer and supports me better and like the roominess of the cockpit.

The thing I do not like is the new switch gear specifically - the UJM turn signals - the rest I can deal with.

I would have liked the brake and clutch reservoirs off of the RT it would have looked more finished.

Now I have hit the missing right button so many times I need to look down to engage the turn signal - something so uniquely BMW should have been left alone.

Anyway - what a wonderful bike - will miss the RT as that bike is an awesome ride also.

That is a beautiful ride. I'd like to have one of those in the stable along with my LT.

Re: Went out and did it!!!!

I test dove one while my LT was being serviced here in Indy. Holy Sh!t Batman! That bike just jumps to your every command. My only complaint was the cramps in my hands from holding on. You are in possession of one of the most nimble bike I've ever ridden. A Valentine radar detector should be standard equipment!

Congrats! Just wait till you really get to know her and the most amazing, telepathic ability to strafe corners. Nada will put a smile on your face faster than hitting the rev limiter in third gear in a sweeper.

Re: Went out and did it!!!!

My local BMW riding group did about 15 Km of steep and winding dirt road the other day - they mostly own GS - I own a 1300GT. My only comment - what dirt road ? - an amazing bike

Haven't hit the rev limiter yet - slowly approaching that - however did some spirited twisties with my wife on the back and it was as if she wasn't even on it! - the amount of linear torque is this beast is wonderous and terribly addictive

Thanks - I am sure the blue one's are just as fast - actually was looking to get a blue one but they didn't have any with ASC/Safety package.

Good decision! I am warming up to your color choice. Just home from the Barcelona MOTO GP, I am trying to rent one for meetings in Italy in September.
