Driver's backrest for a K12GT?

I'm currently riding an '05 ST which I love but am thinking of moving to the (K) dark side..My wife likes riding two up with me but would like something solid to hold on to (not moi). I'm thinking that a backrest for me might be the ticket. She tells me 'I wish there were some kind of handle in front of me..."

She likes leaning back on the BMW 28l or the Givi V46 but wants some additional security.

Sooooo, does anyone know if there is a backrest available for the '08 K12GT's ? I haven't found anything yet.

Thanks everyone.

Not that I'm aware of. There are substantial grab handles on both sides of the passenger, though.

Yes, Bakup makes one that fits. I put one on my new K1300GT, it is the only way to keep a passenger on. Pretty heavy construction and matches fairly well with the stock seats. I much prefer having a back rest on the bike over having a topcase. Although my wife misses the K1200LT.

David, thanks. I just took a close look at a photo...that might be the ticket, much better placement than the rails on the ST's luggage rack.

Hmmmm, time to go bike shopping

Re: Driver's backrest for a K12GT?

Bakup makes a passenger backrest that attaches to the trunk rack as shown in Scott's photo.

They also make a driver's backrest that attaches under the driver's seat and comes up in the gap between the two seats. I know it fits the '07 and up bikes, because I rode to the Backup factory to have the first one fitted to my '07 GT.

I have tens of thousands of miles on it and it works great. It's very adjustable, which makes it very comfortable. If you want a driver's backrest, then Bakup is the way to go.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
