Used K1200r

I am thinking of purchasing a 2006 K1200R with 17000 miles on it. It has an after market exhaust, ABS. Anything I should look for when doing the pre buy inspection??

Thanks,

Al

Re: Used K1200r

Assuming he has kept good service records (which I always take as a sign of a resonsible bike owner) ask for all of the service receipts for review to verify schedule maintenance was done correctly. This will also show any issues, service bulletins, etc. addressed. Look for scuff marks low on the bike. footpegs and such not so much but any scrapes low on the bike could indicate it has been down (sometimes folks only replace the damage higher on the bike, never got that). If he has it services at the local dealer talk to them about the bike and have them give it a once over before sealing the deal. If he still has the stock exhause make sure it comes with the deal, along with any other stock parts that have been removed/replaced.

Re: Used K1200r

While the LT is on center stand, rock rear wheel by grasping outer edge of tire and feel for unusual movement ( may as well check front wheel as well). Place face against floor, look up ( or use mirror ) and check for fluid leaks. If maintenance records aren't available, check clarity of fluids: oil, clutch, brake and coolant.

Then cross fingers, hand over the money, and ride like the wind.

Uhhh.. the K1200R doesn't have a center stand, and isn't an LT.

Howdy David,
Wolfgang has a center stand (see below), it's an optional accessory.
