That's hot - Part 2

Some of you may remember the rear brake overheating problems I was having at last CCR. Well, the dealer replaced the rotor and pads under warranty some time ago. Of course, that didn't fix anything, but it was probably worth a shot. I rode it for a few thousand more and same thing. Rear rotor discolored from overheating.
I didn't have a chance to take it in until about 3 weeks ago. To cut a long story short the dealer had much back and forth with the factory and said it was unheard of, but gave them some tests to do. Turns out the brake modulator was overbraking the rear when using just the front brake lever, which is what I normally use. They replaced the 'HECU INTEGRAL ABS GENERATION' part according to the work order. About $1800 part !
Overbraking the rear also caused the front to start squealing badly at low speeds because the fronts weren't being used enough.
I am surprised the rear wheel didn't lock and the ABS didn't kick in under heavy braking, but I never felt it.

BTW my dealer is Fresno BMW and I have nothing but good things to say about them. They are not cheap, but... The owner, Jack, lent me his personal R1200GSA while my GT was in the shop. He said don't be shy about putting miles on it, so I did - 800 miles worth . Great bike, but I just love the sound that GT makes when you whack that throttle open and let the revs climb

Honestly...my GT (at wide open) reminds me of the sound a V8 with a four-barrel makes! You can hear a lot of sound through the intake....very cool!
