Am I imagining it ...

... but wasn't there a sticker on the fuel cap saying that I should feed my K with super unleaded (98 RON) ?

It isn't there now and thinking of it I'm wondering if the dealers took it off after the last software update.

I've been running it on 95 RON and it seems fine despite the handbook mentioning reduced performance (if it is reduced I don't know where )

To be honest since the last update it feels sweeter anyway, it's just today I seemed to recall this sticker/decal being on the tank. There is one showing on the parts fiche so I suspect the dealership removed it

Me, neither. Though I do try and avoid Ethanol blends, more as a matter of principle than anything.

I figure if the GT will run on this crap that CA calls gas, then it'll run on just about anything.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Re: Am I imagining it ...

I removed 1 sticker that may have stated that, but, another sticker on the cap states that one should not use anything less than "intermediate 89". I always use premium and frequent the gas stations that don't charge an excessive difference for their premium.

Neither could I in the LT or GT.

Re: Am I imagining it ...

Steve, et al,

My late 2007 K1200GT (April 2007) has a factory sticker (black letters, transparent tape) on the gas cap that says the following:

"Unleaded Premium grade Gasoline only / min. Intermediate 91 AKI"

The upper and lower case letters are exactly as written. The bike was purchased here in California, USA.

I put 91 octane (premium) fuel in my K1200GT per the user manual, mostly from "Top Tier" stations. Around here (California), you can find 87 and 91 at all stations. Some have a mid-grade 89. In other states, I often see 92 octane at the pumps, but I don't know if it measured the same way. I can state with confidence that I get better mileage from the fuel in other states. I believe it is because of formulation differences.

Here is a Wikipedia article about octane ratings:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

Cheers,

XMR
