New Paint Scheme For My K1200gts

OK...like it or dislike it, I posted a ROUGH idea for a paint job on my GT. I included a pic of the bike from which I gained the "big picture". I don't have any fancy software (or expertise for that matter), so it looks rough, but just keep in mind that I would use the exact same BMW racing colors as the bike in the lower pic. (Hard to get metalics to show up in MS Publisher). What do you think??????? Give me some ideas!!!!

You are correct...gotta be pearl...deep pearl...the flames sound cool too. And I was trying to remember who it was that did yours. He is good, that's for sure!

Re: New Paint Scheme For My K1200gts

Thanks Grif...I have been trying to get the local dealer to just exactly that scheme Also we do a faux/paint carbon fiber that looks just like the real thing and I was wanting to do the nose/center fairing and the lower in the carbon fiber kinda like the R1200S? When I was hot for a GT this is how I was going to do mine. Also paint out the rear center section(Case's and rear fender)

That's very similar to the S1000RR WSB color scheme. Nice choice!

Jack, FWIW I like it very much. And, +1 on the pearl white idea, although flames aren't my cup of tea. Purely subjective, of course.

In addition to being unique, the new paint job might even increase your conspicuity. Move to Ohio and you can get a matching license plate! (see my avatar for the standard colors)

Don't forget the matching Evel Knievel costume.

That is something I hadn't thought of. I'm certain Mr. Kinsey could turn that into a theme! Pony Express?

BTW: sorry for the gay Evel costume guy in the previous post. It's the first one I found on Google.

I'm not talking your regular ol' hot rod flames. I'm talking ghost flames. You can only see them deep in the pearl when the light hits them right.

I've seen Dave's faux carbon fiber. Looks enough like the real thang to make you whimper with desire.

I also like the colors, but look at the bottom blue and move it up to the next panel it follows along with the upper scheme and put the Red on the bottom of the fairing assembly.

Nice idea,

I would look to try and swoosh the paint job on the rear luggage towards the strip on the tank.

Just done a basic edit to give you the idea.

Pure retail price would probably be around 2k, give or take a bit either way. I have a guy in my church who paints VERY nice and he offered to do it for quite a bit less. Now, I gotta get the money!!!!

I personally like it.

It reminds me a bit much of the Honda 750 Interceptor colour scheme of the mid-80's: http://www.geocities.com/vf500f_in_l...86_VFR-1-2.jpg

I think he's on to something here, Jack.

With that big white area to work with, the addition of a cross or other religious symbol would make the GT look like a high-tech Crusader.
