Brake warning ...

Went out for a ride yesterday and a mile from home the pad warning light came on, rode over to the dealers (Williams Manchester) were the tech showed me exactly were (and why) the wire had broken. Cable tie too tight from the factory .... now I may be being dumb here but why didn't they loosen it as a matter of course at the 6000 miles service (I've not done 7300 miles)

Anyway they replaced it immediately

Re: Brake warning ...

Same thing just happened to mine at 11k. Had a service manager try to tell me that it was "normal" and that BMW had designed the light to come on at 1/2 pad life. Well, being a preacher and all...I didn't say anything bad, just took it to Charlotte BMW and they took care of it...warranteed!

Pastor Jack...

I hope that you are felling better from your kidney stones.

How has your experience been with Charlotte BMW? I live in Thomasville, NC right up the road from you. I have run into issues with the local dealer, they seem not to be very willing to offer corrections. I own an 06' with only 7,400 miles and is still under warranty until 5/09. The previous owner did not have the recalls done (oil tank, center stand, EWS ring). I bought it from an individual in SC on 8/15/08. I rode it back from Myrtle Beach and I ran out of fuel because of a faulty fuel level sensor. I took it in to the shop to have the fuel tank sensor replaced and they also did the recalls. The bike is in the shop again, this time for clicking noise eminatng from the FD. This time they also volunteered to replace the camchain tensioner. I am concerned about the clutch squeal, that I have heard on my bike and brake pad sensors. My biggest concern is the hesitation that I have experienced in the throttle. I almost dropped the bike while starting off in 1st gear while making a left turn. Fortunatley I am a seasoned rider and I feathered the clutch and rolled on more throttle. I have asked them to check the hesitation, but no resolution has been offered yet.

Sorry for the delay in getting back, but the service dept. in charlotte seems to be top-notch. I am certain that most service "encounters" and whether or not we are satisified customers depends mostly on the service manager and the individual technician assigned to do the work. Their service manager is great at his job and seems to watch/instruct the techs well. I have nothing but praise for the way they have handled my problems.
