Question Would you recommend Kisan pathBlazer & tailBlazer

I'd like to get modulating headlights and brakelights for my recently-purchased 2007 GT. Would anybody offer feedback on the Kisan pathBlazer and/or tailBlazer?

Do they work well?

How difficult is installation?

Anybody tried modulating the LOW headlight beam?

Thanks,

Richard

I think I'm having deja vu or something.

I was really interested in the tailblazer, but I read lots of reports of problems with them triggering canbus errors. I opted for some P3+ lights instead and I couldn't be happier. Lots of blinky options and I think additional lights are even better than simple replacements. Wiring the P3+ lights is very easy, the kit is first rate.

Thumbs up Re: Would you recommend Kisan pathBlazer & tailBlazer

Cool. Thanks. Where do you find the P3s? (What's their complete name?)

I got mine here: P3Lights.com
And to be clear I was only looking at tail lights, I have no opinion to offer on the pathblazer.

Another happy P3 light guy. There's a write up on the install in the HoW on www.k-bikes.com

Richard - I see you're in Colorado Springs... Ever thought about going to the Kisan shop and talking to them, maybe even trying the products right there? The folks there are very nice and I'm sure they'll help you in any way they could!

I've talked to them on the phone and asked if they install their stuff and they said no. I think they'd help if I had trouble; a friend of mine who lives here had that experience.

But maybe the P3s are better? Is that the consensus?

The P3's won't throw a fault and work, the Kissan's are awesome... when they work.

Re: Would you recommend Kisan pathBlazer & tailBlazer

I installed the Kisan pathBlazer & tailBlazer on my 04 LT and feel a lot more visible with them. I installed the light sensor up through the windshield elevation hole between the tupperware. It is straight up and picks up light during daylight and shuts off at night.

I don't think there is anything on the 04 LT that I could screw up electronically.

Ride 'em if you got 'em.

Re: Would you recommend Kisan pathBlazer & tailBlazer

My two cents, regarding the Kisan tailBlazer for the GT is that it's a flip of a coin when it comes to whether it'll work flawlessly on your bike, or not. On another BMW site (more GT specific) one can read a lot of complaints regarding the tailBlazer actually not functioning on many bikes.
If you take the GT in for (unrelated) service, the BMW Service Techs will reportedly insist on swapping out the Kissans and reinstalling the factory bulbs to avoid the error codes they see on the computer.
Lastly, the Kissan bulbs are 20W vs. the factory 21W, so even though the perceived brightness of the Kissan halogen bulb might be a bit higher, overall it isn't any brighter that the factory bulb and will not make the bike any more conspicuous (oscillation notwithstanding).
In short, I'd opt for the P3 myself.

Thanks for the input. Would you mind telling me where to find the more GT-specific website? Sounds interesting.

I've found the K1200GT (Next Gen) forum on K-Bikes.com to generally have the most KGT specific technical and accessory information, though the K1200GT-New Generation forum on I-BMW.com is pretty good too. I read all three sites regularly, they're all good and offer different things.

Matt, the LT does not have a CANbus electrical system like the newer Beemers do. Makes all the difference...

I have the Kisan License Plate LED brake light setup specifically set up for BMW canbus systems. It works great. Never any problems.
