Re: Pic time...SHow your GT...somewhere

My GT's only been in about 25 States, so choosing one pic makes it a little difficult. I like this one ... the GT setting in front of this natural arch (named, "La Ventana"), in New Mexico, in the El Malpais National Park. Awesome!

I do work. We're not hiring at the moment, sorry. And, sadly, taking those pictures used up all my vacation for the rest of the year.

Bob, It seems like you and I have a lot of the same pictures...right down to the color of the GT. I just got back yesterday from a 7,000 mile 38 state trip. Here's a pic I took in Arkansas. I really didn't need fuel, but I just had to find out what they were selling at that mini-market!

Nice pictures, but strangely disappointing. GT are supposed to be so fast, they barely slow down, let alone, stop for a picture. :<)

Nice looking bike you got there! Which lights do you have there on your mirrors and are you happy with them? You should check out the gripster tank grips from TechSpec -- they made a big difference for me, esp. going downhill on long days, make it a lot easier to hold onto the tank with your knees.

I stopped at a couple of Kum & Go stations myself, we don't have that chain here in California. I was disappointed.

They are the PIIA Cross Country HIDs. I left Jackpot Nevada bound for Vegas at 3 am local time to beat the heat (it got up to 106 that day in Vegas) and those lights turned the desert practically into daylight. I love 'em. They're good for visibility in the rain as well. I plan to get some caliper mount motolights for general visibility soon.

Yeah if I have one more "meet and greet" with the CHP, they may find a way to break a Rosewood stick on my head!

Yea, yea. I don't think that the El Malpais National Park needs any help. That was truly one of my favorite stops during that round-the-country tour. Standing atop the sandstone formations there was nothing short of breathtaking. Quiet. Peaceful. Untouched by man. Felt almost ... holy.

That was hilarious. Man, Joe, you really crack you up.

25 states, huh? I did that in a week in August.

Passed through El Malpais yesterday, as a matter of fact. Beautiful scenery, at least what I caught going by in a blur. Didn't bother to stop and take pics, as I already had the park stamp and I had 2 more states to get through . . .

Yea...that's real motorcycle riding for ya. Ride, ride, ride ... and all you have to show for it is some park stamps, a sore butt, a lighter wallet, and another trophy for that peeing contest called the IBA. No thanks. I guess we'll just hafta to agree to disagree on that one tho...

Works for me. 70K on the bike and still grinning, despite my FD failure. I bought this bike knowing I'd put 100K on it in 2 years, and that's exactly what I've been doing.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Anyway, it's a beautiful place anyway you look at it.

Timing is everything Just finished a 4 week, 8275 mile trip through all states west of a vertical line drawn through Rapid City, SD and in all that time got rained on about 1.5 hours. Temperatures were generally in the 75-85 degree range although I did hit 32 with snow going over a pass in Wyoming. Lots of instances of rain and/or snow 2-3 days after I'd left an area so luck was really on my side.

I've had the other side too where it was raining just about every day. Luck of the draw.

Yep, I was gone 13 days and 7,519 miles. The afternoon I was at Glacier NP and about an hour the morning after were the only bad weather days I encountered on the trip. Well, if you don't count the 15 minute hail storm in Spokane, WA which covered I-90 3" deep with hail!
