Best mileage yet

Took a leisurely, 230 mile ride into the mountains yesterday with the "insignificant other". No high speeds, little stop-and-go traffic. Temp. was 71F on the Blue Ridge Pkwy - 97F when we got back to Greenvul, SC. Shows what 6,000 ft. of altitude will do for you.

I usually average 42 to 43 mi/gal on the GT. Yesterday: 47.9 mi/gal. Best mileage yet on the GT for me.

Sounds like it's right on the money. BTW mine has returned 55 mpg between angels six and angels ten.

Just curious, how do you calculate mileage?

...MPG readout from the OBC?
...Odometer readout divided by gallons at the pump?
...GPS readout divided by gallons at the pump?
...Other?

For me:
Odometer readout divided by gallons at the pump.
GPS and Odometer are dead nuts accurate on my bike. OBC mls/gal is 3 to 5 mph optimistic.

Re: Best mileage yet

What Norris said. Actually I normally use an autoregressive moving average to compute mileage over the last 3 tanksfull ... but the 47.9 mi/gal was over just one tank.

Re: Best mileage yet

Good mileage, I normally get 28-40. But while in NM I got 50mpg on a tank that was at 8700 to 10,500 feet. 6,000 feet? Out west we call that a hill....
