I'm getting my upgrade tomorrow (box & SW)

And after only two bitch session at the dealer I'm getting the airbox and software upgrades on Friday.

As my dealer said now that BMW is getting the fixes in stock (boxes) they are more able to accomodate the repairs. But remember if you don't mention it they ain't gonna offer.

I had to write up my almost rear-ending a cage at high speed because the throttle wouldn't come down.

Mike,
Which dealer? I told BMW Fresno to come pick mine up because it was unsafe to ride. Just gave them the symptoms and didn't try and diagnose it for them. 3 days later I got it back with new airbox, software and all the bugs washed off from the trip to Meese.
Bike is running much better now.

I just asked Lonestar after informing them of the problem and they're fixing it on the 16th. Love that dealership.

Re: I'm getting my upgrade tomorrow (box & SW)

I switched over to San Jose BMW now.

I talked with the Western BMW rep at the Motorcycle show back in Nov07. Of course he said the internet was making too big a thing about this. When I asked if BMW was denying the problem he said well no, but not ALL bikes have the problem and that BMW wouldn't fix ALL bikes if ALL didn't have the problem. So I needed to tell my dealer when and what happens. I did so but the dealer the first time couldn't replicate it so they sent me on my way. But they did say BMW was trying to get the fix done ASAP and that finding a vendor to make the parts was a big problem since it was a worldwide fix. Well it seems the parts are more plentiful now and more people are getting the fix without threatening lawsuits.

And I gat a loaer to play with for a day.

Re: I'm getting my upgrade tomorrow (box & SW)

Well I got the airbox last Friday. No software though. They said according to BMW's data I have the latest.....for my bike.

I had a bit of info from one of our forum sources that gave the VINs that the airbox is needed but the SW isn't and those VINs match what my bike just went through (box but no SW), so I feel okay about it.

As for riding....I went through the gears and revs like I did before when the problem happened and it seemed fine. So I guess if it doesn't happen again its considered fixed. Only time will tell.
