New tailbag

Well I wanted a tail bag / top box and the the BMW ones were either to small or to big. I was in the process of modifying a BMW Vario plate to fit that on the back but it's taking me longer than expected to make it look and function just right.

But today I found this new bag and adapter the will fit the daily commuter role almost perfect.

I know I could have bought a hard shell but it would have been to big to fit my computer into it and it would not have looked as nice, I try to ride with out the side cases unless I need to run to the store on the way home. The only down side for me is that my wifes Givi will not fit on this adapter but the new bag will fit on hers so I can take the little GS to work every now and then.

I'll try to post the pictures, it has not let me in a while, as soon as I get it and install it.

Thumbs up Re: New tailbag

Well installed the adapter plate with only very minor adjustment by trimming the neoprene pad under the Givi mount.

The bag works great it holds my laptop and all the accessories for in the top half and the bottom holds all my daily riding equipment.

The only bug in the system is using the key to unlock it form the bike. The shape of the key plus it being on a key ring gets in the way of on of the handles. I'll see if I can get another one cut but in the shape of a normal key.

Other than that it fits what I needed perfect. I no longer have to bungie my computer to the back or use the painters.

Re: New tailbag

I have recently bought the BN36 Business case from Givi for commuting. Holds my notebook and other stuff that I need at work perfectly. Case can be easily taken from the bike and then it just looks like ..... a business case.

Before that I used the BMW large top case, but I found the size of it influencing the bikes road behaviour too much, esp. on windy days.

Erwin is right about the wind and the BMW top case.

The BMW top case may be the only one that will fit a 17 inch laptop. A 17 inch MacBook Pro in a Brenthaven backpack is a snug but good fit in a BMW top case.

Re: New tailbag

Inside dimensions of the Givi business case is 47 x 33 x 16 cm (17.3 x 13 x 6.3 inch), so a 17" notebook (using a neoprene 'glove') should fit in this case as well.

Re: New tailbag

I guess these alternative solutions are fuctional enough. But I'll never see eye-to-eye with GIVI's designers.

Re: New tailbag

Erwin,

What shop would ship the B36N case and the E193 rack to me in the USA?

I have used Twisted Throttle many times and only had good results. They are at most of the rallies and the are VERY helpful on the phones. The best thing for me is they are just about around the corner.

The rack should be available through givi usa (see 'my motorbike' on their site and look for the R1200RT) and their resellers. For the case you can contact www.motolife.nl ( [email protected] ). I have no experience with this company, but they accept paypal. You could also contact givi usa for the case to see if they also can get you this case.

For some reason this case has not made the USA site yet. Thanks for info!
