No doubt! The power of this thing is intoxicating, and a little scary right now. Luckily the brakes are up to the task as well. I got into a couple of corners too hot on my little spin last night and basically touched the brakes, next thing I knew I was going through the corner too slow!

Way to go Dave! The color is absolutely beautiful...love it! I promise you, the more you ride it, the more you will love it. Give it a thousand miles or so and you be saying, "What LT?"

Re: Got My New GT Today

Big congrats on the purchase. You're gonna love the ride.

The ergonomics are giving me a problem. With an unhealed collar bone (bone never re-connected) on my right arm, it is painful most all the time. I bought some risers to see if it cures the problem. If not, I'll have to go back to the LT.

Hey Woody, try some tank grippers. By gripping with the knee's you can sit too many more combo's. Also, try rounding the lower back some.

Re: Got My New GT Today

Just got back from a 150 mile ride in the Santa Cruz Mountains and along the coast. I do believe I have chosen wisely. THe more I rode the better the bike felt, and by the time I got on Skyline I was strafing corners at a pretty good clip. Still gonna need some time to work on on/off throttle transition, braking points, the feel of the bike, etc. But I've got a big grin on my face after today's ride!!

Re: Got My New GT Today

Yep, 50% more power and 25% less weight gives the bike a much more direct response to rider inputs. So the GT just does everything a bit quicker than the LT. Consequently, you have to be a bit quicker and smoother as well. Fortunately, that's not difficult with a little practice. So I prescribe more practice for you.

The first time I rode Jeff's GT, I took off at a fun but respectful pace down a two lane Oregon back road. After all, it wasn't my bike so I wanted to be careful. I soon noticed that my "careful" pace was easily 5-10 mph faster through corners than the LT. After I'd stopped 20 miles down the road Ernie caught up to me looking a little harried, and I realized he had been trying to keep up.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

+1 on the tank grippers! They made all the difference in the world for me. They stopped some of the sliding forward that was occuring and helped with fatigue in a major way. I could not imagine riding my GT without them. They REALLY do work great!

Yeah, I know what you mean about moving at a quicker clip than usual. I've found myself going about 5-10 over previous speeds in most situations as well. The thing seems to like to cruise at about 85-90, which is really dangerous without my V1 installed yet! I got to ride my favorite stretch of road today (Highway 84 from La Honda to SkyLonda) and really focused on smooth throttle transitions and trying to smooth out my breaking. I don't know how fast I was going, but it was a short trip to Alice's!

Make sure you can hear the V1, too.

I swapped mine from the LT the first day, but didn't hook up the intercom for a couple thousand miles. That cost me, big time.

Got 'em and they are on the bike. I installed the risers yesterday and haven't been able to go for a ride yet...rain today and temps expected to fall this afternoon, but do you (or anyone for that matter) know how far up I can go safely with the adjustment on these risers?

Woody aka SoberBiker

Which risers do you have? The Suburban Machinery units move the bars back 1", but also have five height positions. The lowest is equal to the stock "tall" position. The second and third positions add 9 mm each (0.35" or 0.7"). The fourth and fifth positions are also 9 mm steps, but are too tall to allow the throttle cables to reach comfortably.

I'd like to raise mine a bit higher, but anything above the middle position puts too much strain on the throttle cables at full lock.
