Idle / Throttle response Question

Hey all -

I've had a strange issue with my 07 GT and I'm wondering whether it is typical. At first, I noticed a few incidents of throttle hesitation out of turns, etc. I had them do the prgramming update on the bike when I did the 600 mile service. That problem seems to be gone now but I have noticed that the idle occassionally hangs up at 2300 RPM or so. It's seriously annoying when in traffic or maneuvering at low speeds. I need to blip the throttle to get the bike to settle down to a normal idle. Anyone else notice this?

Thanks,
T

Yeppir, it's called high idle syndrome and it's been discussed on www.k-bikes.com.

Not all bikes are afflicted and here's a fix http://www.parabolicalabs.com/fettlev1.doc

Had exact same issues. Was cured with replacement of airbox, sensors, and 9.2 software. I see you're in MA. Call Rachael at Greater Boston Motorsports - she's familiar with the issue. Tell her Bob from the Vineyard sent you.

Bob, was this issue covered under the warranty? My bike is an early 2006 GT

My local dealer seems to think my problem, when I have it is a non-issue. He advised me to put some dry gas in the tank as he thought that I had gotten bad gas. BBS & HI has hit me several times, last summer and recently during hot weather spells. I would take the 3 hour ride to Boston to get this fixed. Besides, Beantown is the home of my alma mater, MIT.

I don't know how long the warranty period is at your side of the pond, but this should be covered by it. I haven't heard of any country (BMW Importer) where this isn't accepted as warranty.

warranty

I was told by Greater Boston BMW that it would be a warranty issue and they ordered the part without even seeing the bike. I did just buy the bike a couple months ago though.

Another dealer in my area told me that they would need to run test the bike to recreate the problem and that they were not aware of any service or warranty issues of this type?? I found that hard to believe given the level of documentation I found on this board.

All it took me is one e-mail to my dealer. Next day I got a phone call from them to tell me that they expect the parts in house in wk 44 and that they will contact me for an appointment once they have the parts.

Now, that's what I call service....

This is definately warranty all the way. GBM has several service bullitens on the subject. Nothing new - affects 12% of the bikes produced. One of the great things I have like about GBM is they listen to the customer and believe them. BMWNA almost had to eat my bike under the lemin law in mA.
