Talking Also traded in the 12RT for '07 GT

Last weekend I made this trade. Not after a lot of thinking and studying posts in this and other forums.

The bike is awesome! I am almost 6'3" and thus I have ergo changes to make. I put on the Suburban peg extension kit yesterday and that helps. I have the BMW tall windscreen. Buffeting isn't an issue. Wind "noise" is my big gripe. I wear the Multitec helmet and I have tried earplugs too. Too much noise.

I have my eye on the ZTechnik VStream. I have not yet searched this forum for this screen but if anyone, on this fourm, about my height who has solved any windshield issues your comments would be greatly appreciated.

The seat will have to go some day too. I will hold off decisions on handlebar risers until these other things are fixed. I want to give my body time to adjust to the new posture required for his machine.

Tall rider

Let me know how the suburban peg kit works out for you. I'm thinking of doing that as well. I'm 6'4" and have found that the legs need a stretch after a few hours. Do you miss the ground clearnace? Does it make much of a comfort difference? Does it mess with shift/braking ergos?

One thing that helped me a ton with wind noise was a helmet change. I was considering the tall windshield but I prefer the shorter, sportier look for my everyday riding. I bought an Arai Corsair helmet

and my noise issue completely disappeared. It's so quiet that I ride with the shield in the low to mid position most of the time unless it's very cold or windy. It's also incredibly light and very well vented. I recommend it highly.

This thread is becoming more RT oriented than GT but here goes...

My RT has the Suburban peg lowering kit in combo with Touratech adjustable shift lever as well as Suburban bar risers. I can provide pics but have already done so in another thread within the RT sub-forum. As to cornering clearance, delightfully I find the loss is negligible. Although I sold my FJR, I still ride with them. In fact, did so last Saturday (You Tube video available) and will again this coming Saturday. Just twice, and at a brisk pace on decreasing radius turns have I "touched" (it felt like the outer edge of my boot). Although that always gets your attention, clearly nothing to indicate the tires or the bike was near the limit.

+1. I love my Corsair, also. But, at what it costs, it should be that good!
