Talking I'm In The GT Circle!!!!!

Allright boys...I finally took the plunge! Went to Carolina BMW in Greensboro today and traded my '01 LT in on an Blue '07 GT. What a different experience riding the GT! Gonna take some getting used to. Whole new group of muscles to develop. Power 'out the wazoo!!! Lot more wind than the LT...seat's hard as a brick...but the ESA is GREAT!!!!

Fuel mileage averaged over 50mpg on the way home (mostly interstate )... I test rode an '05 LT, and like it a lot and THEN, just loosened up on the handlebars and uh oh...TANKSLAPPER!!! Just thought, do I want to enter into that again?????

It settled the issue.... I got the GT! Anyway, I'm still in the BMW circle so I hope you LT guys won't shun me! And don't worry, I'll wait up on you when we ride!!

BTW, I was considering getting a newer LT mainly because I know my wife LOVES the LT's ride. Just when I was getting ready to go trade, she said, "Jack, get whatever you want. I just want you to be happy." What a blessing!!!

Hey Jack, the more you ride, the more you'll love it. It took awhile for me, but now I look forward to riding her every day.

You're gonna be amazed how easy it is to tear this bike down. You'll love it.

Give the seat about a thou and if it still doesn't work it's time to play seat shopping!

Great question. Two Answers:

1. RIDING!!!!!!
2. Helping all YOU GUYS with major LT rebuilds.

Actually, my bike had become one of the best riding LT's that I have ever ridden and I hope that through the work done on it, it will make someone a great bike. It should almost all the parts are new...but you know those LT's.

Awesome purchase there Pastor Jack! Great bike and even better wife you have it seems. Can my significant other hang around with her?

Love that blue paint although Ken's graphite GT is mighty attractive too!!!

I'm very happy for you. Hope to make a similar announcement soon.

Haven't ridden two-up yet. Gotta get a trunk before she'll enjoy it, for sure. It really is a totally different experience and will take some adjustment, butt I like it better everytime I ride it!

Personally, I had to have the heli risers/setback installed. Helped a lot. I'm gonna give my body some time to adjust. Gotta get my local upholstery guy to work on the seat, for sure.

Woohoo! Congrats Jack! 'Bout time you did SOMETHING right!
Just keep one thing in mind. I didn't really uderstand my GT until at least 2K miles. So if you ever start to question your decision, give it some miles.

And a second congrats for picking the right color.

You know Joe...I hate to admit it, but I think you may be right. The more I ride it, the better I like it. Almost more everytime I get on it. But, it is a REAL change from the LT, that's for sure. My butt's still adjusting... Uhhhh.

I am also having to watch it in the speed category. Gosh, this thing just LONGS to fly....WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!

Something interesting happened yesterday. I went to a Yamaha Dealership and there were at least 50-60 bikes parked outside. After hanging out a few minutes, I walked back outside and there stood two of the managers...and guess what they were admiring???? You got it. The GT! THAT was cool!

Thumbs up

I happen to think that this is a pretty cool pic from my little ride out to California. This is at the top of the Ojai Valley. (You can almost make that out in the reflection of the right saddlebag.) This pic examplifies the reason for owning a GT. You ride across the country on a bike that is just as capable when you get to some of the best twisties in the country.

Click HERE for the full-sized pic.

Then again, I have so many cool pics from that trip that it's not even funny.

Now we need to see YOUR PICS Jack!!!

8K miles in 3 weeks on a stock seat here Jackie Poo! I guess my butt isn't as picky as most. Then again, maybe I learned that, at speeds above 130, your mind has more important things to think about than the comfort of your seat.

Sorry for HiJack. But you really should read this carefully now that you own a GT Jack.

Yes, I do like speed. Not a brag, a fact. And after years of practice, I consider myself not only a smart speeder, but a safe speeder. Track time helps with the safe part. Over the last 10 years, I've received about one speeding ticket every 3 years...whether I need it or not. I'm hoping this trend decreases now that I own a Valentine One. (Didn't help against the air-attack a couple of months back though. ) I don't speed in the city, EVER! But I do like my highway riding to be on the spirited side. As well as empty two-lane.

Regarding 'Get out of Jail' cards . . . yes, I carry a few. My riding partner (Nancy) is a LEO. I've only used one once though.

Trust me...I'm finding this out. Today, I wanted to stretch it out a bit and just thought, "better not" -- soon as I topped the hill, there sat an LEO w/ radar. Oh boy...

But Joe, did you see my pic I posted?

Is that "over 50 mpg" fuel mileage based on the on board computer, Jack? My OBC on the GT is telling me 51 mi/gal, but a hand calculation (assuming the odometer is correct) gives 44 mi/gal.

If the butt fits....

Friday, while installing the P3 lights I disconnected the battery for awhile and did a TPS reset for giggles.

Yesterday my mileage went up from 41.5 to 45. I'm not sure if it was the weather. It was 102 degrees on the highway. The side streets, at 96, felt cool.

Oh, that was using the OBC. I don't hand calculate as I only have 9 good fingers (one was cut off and sewn back on rather clumsily).

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
