SS bolts on "07 k1200gt clutch cover?

Has anyone replaced the aluminum bolts on the clutch cover with Stainless Steel. If so what did you torque them to? I guess the reason for the aluminum ones are to keep the threads in the case from being stripped out?

How often do you remove the clutch cover?

Just get the proper aluminum bolts, torque them correctly and in the correct order, then forget about it for tens of thousands of miles...

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Of course you are correct. Silly of me to think about it. I mean, this is the first time I've had the cover off in 70k. An insignificant cost when put in perspective.

Also, the aluminum bolts stretch when torqued as part of the design so they are only supposed to be used once then replaced. Bottom line is a lot of engineering in this installation so probably better to follow the original design.

Without consideration for cost of repair. Every time you need to peek inside the clutch cover, it costs you over $50 in stretch bolts.

Some people re-use them. Obviously there is a risk.

Does anyone have a cheaper source for new stretch bolts?
