Clutch hub resurfacing

Got the clutch pack out tonight, 2007 K 1200 GT with 90K, Hubs are scored (grooved) . I'm sure they will need resurfacing. Is there a limit to how much machining can be done with out negatively affecting clutch operation?

Re: Clutch hub resurfacing

A new bearing for that basket can be had at Motion Systems, there are several all around the country.
NK35/30TV. Will take vibration out of the assembly. BMW does not sell them.
(35mm ID 45mm OD and 30 mm wide. roller bearing. )

I change your tires $40, you buy them on the web.

Re: Clutch hub resurfacing

Here is the thread where the info came from. Hints that the factory original bearing was not the best.

Re: Clutch hub resurfacing

bmwtaxman. Start posting!!! How many posts do you need 5?

Sent you a pm. hopefully you can read it. I assume you have a k1200-1300? How many miles on your clutch? What are the symptoms?

Joe's '06 RT loaned me the tools to do the job. Thanks, again Joe. Pm him.

I'd be happy to share what I learned replacing mine with you and since you're in SJ could walk you through it, though it's been a while.

Re: Clutch hub resurfacing

Thanks for the reply and PM. I have a 2007 K1200 GT with 53,500 miles. I knew it was a matter of time on the clutch. Have all the classic symptoms--heavier than normal clunk, can still find neutral but a good 25% of the time won't get there, very recently the clutch spins when on the throttle in 4th, 5th and 6th.

I just hope that I have not worn a grove in the basket (after reading other posts I am now worried about this)

Did you use bmws parts or aftermarket?

Jim
