Re: MotoScan software?

Thanks for the link. I bought it, the cable and OBDlink MX. Only thing I couldn't do was purge the ABS on my '07 K1200gt.
Cheers.

Re: MotoScan software?

I noticed this topic posted regarding K bikes but is relevant to others. I bought my first BMW R1200RT in March. Besides trying to make it comfortable/ridable (for me), I have been gathering stuff like a service manual, tools, and reading topics here to learn as much as I can for the time maintenance tasks will arise.

Yesterday, I pulled the trigger on a used GS911 with 8 VIN numbers remaining. I already have an automotive OBD II code reader, but don't trust trying to adapt it for the bike. This MotoScan looks interesting and could assist in making the technology more available and affordable to folks with a tighter budget.

I happen to have strong mechanical capabilities and enjoy tinkering with a broad range of "old iron," in addition to just about any man-made contraption. Even if I choose to deliver my bike to a dealer for work, I want to have enough information and knowledge to be sure that I won't be "upsold" by someone trying to maximize their profits by adding charges for tasks not necessary. My thinking is that even if I don't do the work myself, I should make sure I know "how, what, & why," to make sure I'm getting what I pay for.

Never declare a cherished memory as "the best day of my life"...it will forever diminish the possibility for "Tomorrow" being the "Best Day!"
