Fuelling (hesitation) problem with k!300GT

Hello,

My 2009 K13GT has terrible hesitation on hard acceleration. I've improved it quite a lot with mixture enrichment using an AF XIED device, but when I add enough fuel to improve the hesitation I significantly reduce fuel economy, suggesting it's a bit too rich on cruise. (It's had enough time for the BMW computer to adjust it's long term settings to match the AF-XIED "spoofed" oxygen sensor output)

Should I:
a) Go to a dealer and try to persuade them to update the fuel map to a more recent one? (I don't know what I have).
b) Find some software to do that myself? I don't have an android phone, so what's available? Do I need GS911?
c) Forget about the BMW map and get a power commander.
d) Something else?

What do you guys recommend?
Thanks!
Doug

Re: Fuelling (hesitation) problem with k!300GT

A friend of mine had two of K1300GT's, one for the wife also. Hers ran okay, his..he spend time (years) and many dollars at the dealer. They ended up with two FJR's. A GS-911 can not install or modify software.
This thread might get you started on that path.

Sorry to be so negative this morning, but the some of the K1300GT bikes are trouble prone. It will take someone with knowledge and perseverance to help you out.
Here is one thing to eliminate:

Do you have the last edition of the air box? It also comes with a software up date.

I change your tires $40, you buy them on the web.

Hmm. How would I identify the latest edition of the airbox? The bike is supposed to be up to date on recalls, but I don't know if this is a recall item or not.
thx

All 13GT's should have the newer airbox. That was one of the major upgrades starting in 2009. Call the dealer with your VIN number and they can tell you if you have the newer fuel map update.

Re: Fuelling (hesitation) problem with k!300GT

I called a dealer and the BMW records show that the ECU was "addressed for a bug fix" in Jan of 2010, but they had no ECU version information available.

Is the latest fuel map from after then? If so, I guess I don't have it?

Thx,
Doug

The best thing to do is take it to a dealer and have them run the diagnostic. If there are any new updates, they will download.
