2008 K1200GT Brake Question

Just got a 2008 K1200GT and was initially surprised at how fast the front brake actuates. I was under the impression that the "electronic brake assist" (go easy on me.. I'm a newbie!) ceased at 2007, but it is very hard to modulate the brakes and I'm wondering if it continued thru the entire production. The front brake lever gives a real "electric" feel, almost like trying to modulate electric trailer brakes. Hard initial bite with just a little bit of lever. Is this normal?

Re: 2008 K1200GT Brake Question

Those did have the power assist brakes but only up to 08/2006 build dates, then they went with Gen 2 ABS (no pumps). Check your build date. Easy to check they "whine" when you pull the lever. The Gen 2 do not "whine".

I have an ‘06 with the “whizzy” brakes and quickly came to like them. Any time I get on my ‘07 K1200GT actuating the brakes is a reminder of, “Oh, right, regular brakes.” You’ll be able to modulate the brakes once you become accustomed to them; just a lighter touch, a bit of finesse, works well.

Oops, we’re in the K forum!🙄. My ‘06 RT has the servo brakes, my ‘07 GT does not.
