Brake wear warning light...can I turn it off?

2006 BMW K1200GT....73k miles

So Many, many years ago I knew about the wear warning indicator on these K bikes. I changed up my pads (have done many times since) and took the warning wire out of the equation. I just taped it up out of the way with the wire intact.

Strangely last year on a 4 day ride from Canada to Mexico it came on early one morning. Then off, then on then off over a number of miles (same day). It has stayed off for at least 4k more miles.

Last weekend went for a ride and it came on again. I checked the front wire...still intact.

I thought there was a rear wire but I could not find it.

So..question.
Is there a way to just turn the dang warning light?

Thanks

I don't know if you can program it off with a GS-911 unit but the sensors are just shorted until they wear through so find the wires and cut them off the pads and strip back the wires and twist them together. That will stop the light. But if they are still intact, a loose connector will cause a light to come on. The wire is on one of the rear pads. It may have fallen off so you will need to find the connector and just short the pins in it.

They stopped using them on the K1300GT.

Re: Brake wear warning light...can I turn it off?

I guess you didn't READ my post.

I've owned and replaced pads on this bike for the past 12 years.

I know the wire only lights up the warning light when the wire is BROKEN as in when its on the pad and the pad wears down to BREAK the wire.

I have not had the wire on the pads for at least 72,000 miles. And all was good.

The light is on. Meaning there is a break in the wire someplace. Not feasible to search for a small break.so....

I'm asking if there is a way to shut the light OFF, that's all.

Using some diagnostic tool that will cost $$$ ain't worth it.

Sorry I didn't read the entire post but just go direct to the ZFE module and jump wire on pin 27 of J1 (brown/black) to wires on pins 34 (brown/red/yellow) and pin 35 (brown/red/white). That way you don't have to trace down the harness.
