Metzeler Roadtec 01

Looking at getting these for my K1300GT but can't find info on whether my bike requires the HWM tire.
Thanks.

Re: Metzeler Roadtec 01

Had them installed today, recommended to me to get the HWM version. The price was similar to Michelin PR4 GT and Pirelli Angel GT. Too cold to try them.

My guess is the HWM is the correct choice. My local dealer stocks the PR4 GT tires, so I always just get those. I’ve gotten good wear and longevity with the PR4 tires; I’d guess any tire is more capable than I am on either of my bikes.

Re: Metzeler Roadtec 01

I had Michelin PR3 before and got 16,000 km and liked the way they handled wet or dry. There are a lot of positive reviews for the Metzeler and PR4's. Still too cold to ride.

Re: Metzeler Roadtec 01

How do you like the Metzeler Roadtec 01's? I've used PR4 GT's prior and really liked them, was planning on getting the new R5 GT but needed to replace tires prior to the release of the R5 GT's.

After some research I went with the Pirelli Angel GT "A" spec based on reviews that they should provide the best performance and grip in dry conditions (what I usually ride in).

Re: Metzeler Roadtec 01

I haven't ridden in the rain yet, so no review for that. Dry conditions are terrific, but I would bet most tires are great in dry conditions. My local dealer suggested the Metzeler as their best seller, so I went with their suggestion as well as internet reviews. My PR3's were very good for me, rain or dry and longevity.

Re: Metzeler Roadtec 01

I know this is an older thread, but I highly recommend the dunlop roadsmarts for these bikes. I have run PR4gt's and Roadsmart 2's and 3's on my 07 k1200gt and the dunlops lasted longer and handled much better than the Pilot Roads. The Roadsmart 3's are a little better in the wet than the roadsmart 2's but even the 2's handle pretty well in adverse conditions. Much cheaper than the pilot road's also.
