K1200GT: switch UK headlight to "normal" headlight

I recently got a replacement headlight off Ebay because my glass was cracked.

It's totally flawless and I'm very happy with it, but I just rode in the dark with it for the first time and realized it's a UK headlight. It's xenon as well so I'm blinding all the oncoming traffic.

I took a look at the Ebay advertisement and found it in the fine print. Should have paid closer attention.

Anyway. Is there any way to convert a UK headlight to a "normal" one? Is the difference in the angle of the bulb (which I noticed upon installing, but didn't think anything of it), of in the internal mirror?

Thanks.

Forgive the dumb question, but what is a UK headlight?

Re: K1200GT: switch UK headlight to "normal" headlight

I've seen where riders apply tape over the appropriate side of the lens when driving from right hand drive to left hand drive and vice versa, an example is driving from the UK to France.

pkpilot - since they drive on the left in the UK, the headlight is different to light up the road signs on the left side of the highway rather than the right as in most other places.

In the states, we drive on the right so the head light lens is shaped so the low beam light flares up to the right (shoulder) for some side visibility. While, the left side part of the beam is flat and low so oncoming cars will not be blinded. Just the reverse in the UK and other countries where they drive on the left. Owners manuals used to show you where to put the tape on the two lamps to convert for temporary use to a different countries driving patterns.
