Joe's been depressed since his tire crisis. If he had read the manual he would have seen all that info about how the exhaust must be moved.

Maybe because there are 3 sites with GT-specific components? I'm still not sure why we need three.... but that's just me. YMMV

Getting credit from Mark Neblett for hosting "the first-ever GT Tech Session" (I think that was how Mark phrased it) is good for at least 1,500 posts. Joe is still basking in the GT glory and is too chilled to type.

Boy! I missed this entire thread while at CCR. Not that I missed much. Just my adorning fans trying to cut me down as to elevate themselves.

Well, my GT is built and awaiting shipment from the fatherland.

This time, I AM going to buy the extended warranty. 4 years, no deductible, ABS covered for $950.00.

Wondering how much the insurance is going to go up?

It is fun getting a new bike!

Hey, Bud - what's the factory warranty period on your GT? Same as Barbara - 3 years or 36K? And then, does the extended warranty tack onto the end of the factory, or run concurrent (which wouldn't make much sense, I guess!). Just wonderin' when you have to sign up for the extended??

And all this is just curiosity - I ain't lookin'!!!

Yeppir,3 & 36. The extended adds to the warranty. So, basically a 7 year warranty. I made sure it would be transferable just in case I get fickle again and only keep the bike for 6 years.

Is that unlimited mileage? I don't think I'd need 7 years, but I get through 36K in well under 3 years. Also, which warranty company?

Unlimited mileage. The company is Interstate and it's the Diamond Plan, which is the most inclusive. A bumper to bumper, if you will.

3 years is $860, 2 is $750. You can drop $50 bucks off if you drop ABS and another 50 if you want to pay a $50 deductible each time you use it.

Comparing $950 bucks to what I've spent on barbara, well it's peanuts and a no brainer. Being transferable (except to a dealer) makes it a sweeter buy when you turn it.

BTW, most other dealers will offer the top plan at around $1200. Lone Star doesn't take their bite to make the deal a leetle better on a bike that doesn't have much wiggle room as far as negotiations. The 600 mile service is free and they said they'd cut me a smoking deal on the top box. I'm not going to pressure them, I'd like to see them remain in business, but man, it's hard not to put on the horse trading cap.
