I hate to be the first to say this, but that looks very, very nice. From the pix the color match looks right on and the matched top box makes the bike look like a million bucks. Good move.

Still a little confused, though: I thought you were going to paint the bike to match the top box.

Thanks Howard. I am thrilled at the results. I think it makes the top box now look like it actually belongs on my bike, and not just some afterthought by BMW. It also made it look smaller, and more integrated. It's more than I had hoped for.

Yes -- exactly what I was thinking but unable to articulate.

I still don't like the BMW panniers on the new GT -- they don't have the same lines as the front and sides. I wonder if BMW has plans to redesign them in future flavors of the new GT. Looks like they took the bags off the RT and put them on the GT with no change -- which may be exactly what they've done, but it doesn't quite... match. The new GT looks 100% new and different; the bags look Old School.

(BTW, I have my wife totally convinced that the day my GT is paid off, I'm marching straight to the dealer and ordering the GSA. And, she actually seems OK with it. Woohoo!)

That IS what BMW did. But...I respectfully disagree. At the same time, I can see your point. (Especially if I squint really really hard! )

Get in line Shawn. I said it before, and I'll say it again. As the time passes, more and more people will jump ON the "That GT looks awesome!" bandwagon . . . and jump OFF of the "Those sides don't have enough curves, or vents, or something!" bandwagon. The design is DIFFERENT. Yes, we got that part! And here's a news flash for the nay-sayers, it's here to stay for awhile. And anyone who thinks that the newly-designed LT isn't going to look like this GT is fooling themselves. The winds of change have blown. And to me, it's quite refreshing.

Nice choice & good job, now why doesn't BMW make it like that? Inquiring minds want to know!

That is a GREAT question! They have obviously decided to just make them ALL the same color for both the RTs and GTs, and that's that. I personally think they are missing the boat on yet another easy money maker.

Howard...just one more point I'd like to add here. Although the panniers are indeed straight off the RT, we are talking about the '05 R1200RT here. Not the pre-'05 RT. And the styling of the '05 RT is very similar to the '06 GT. Just thought you'd like to know...

That looks REALLY nice, Joe! IT kinda makes you wonder why BMW didn't do that in the first place.

REALLY NICE Joe! Hey, in a couple of those pictures I don't even mind the side panels!
At the right angles they don't look so flat as they do in most pictures. Hey, I would ride that any day.

Won't your dealer be surprised when you return the loaner GT with the top box painted to match?

Looks great joe, really nice looking bike.
But just one thing that I would like to know.
Who mow's that big lovely lawn.
That lawn looks great.
I'm still waiting to see what they do with the LT before making a decision.
See ya around Joe.

This one I'll be returning for sure. It's the wrong color (Dark graphit with grey seat), it has paint damages on the side cases and it already has 10k km on the odo. I'd like a new one in Crystal gray / black seats, with full options (incl. HID), + top box in matching color.

Thanks Richard. I would be the one & only "greens keeper" in our house. Truth be told, it looks like crap. Those two-week family vacation are hell on a lawn. I'll need a couple of weeks to get it whipped back into shape.

My topcase on the Dark Graphite doesn't look so bad as there's some color matching, but this looks great Joe.

BTW, so does the lawn. I forgot how lovely a Kentucky Bluegrass lawn can look as opposed to this stuff we call grass here in Florida.

Last night, there was this little car show in Chagrin Falls. There was a '57 Nomad wagon painted very, VERY PEACH! On the rear quarter it read, "Peachy Keen!". I thought of you, and almost took a pic of it with my bike sitting next to it. Darn it! That would've been funny.
