Cool Why the GT has no side vents

Why did they leave off side vents and such on the GT?

To give you room to display your kills, of course!

Actually, the new GT costs about a third to service than the LT and about half of the previous-generation RS/GT.

6K service was less than $150. 600 mile was about $250 and the 12K should be more of the same.

its' the other way around

no, it's the amount of money saved by going "first class",

no fork tubes to replace the springs or for the oil to leak.

no read end to lub every oil change.

no $'s needed to spend on an aftermarket cruise control

$'s saved at the gas pump (some of you are reporting high 40's even 50+ mpg).

More solid bike geometry should make the tires last longer (hee hee )

All the money saved because you don't have to replace the bike every four or five years (should easily last six - ten years, 250,000 miles or more)

That in itself is worth the price of admission.

Cheers.

At 50 miles, I changed the oil/filter at $37. My 600-mile service was thrown in. My 6K coming up will cost me LESS than $100...as will the 12K.

I'd say the cost of ownership is just a hair lower than the LT's.

Joe's GT will end up having (before too much longer) the logos of all other brand bikes on it. IIRC, so far he has "killed" a Harley and several other brand bikes.

Hey Dick, good and steady hand there on the cut! Just doesn't look mean enough. Prolly needs to be up a leetle higher and the "mouth" taller.

Tiger Beemer

Ok folks, this is a rendition by a professional artist who is a friend of mine. He is "Bubba Goose". This copy is what he did as a suggestion for "upgrading" my LT...

I LOVE the GS . . . but me thinks me will be leavin' my new GT well-enough alone. My topbox will match the rest of the 'Deep-Blue Metallic' by the end of the week, and that will be all of the customizing that I'll be doing for awhile, esthetically speaking.

I find the whole thing a bit futile as the only view most of y'all will see is the tail light fading off in the distance anyway. (I can't wait to run the Cherohala Skyway with Grif and Meese.)

That is what I have been thinking about for the GT. If you look at the GT side fairing, it looks like a nice shark profile with the BMW emblem as the eye would be perfect. Just about the right angles on the front of the fairings for the shark nose.

I was going to try a mockup, but I have not found the right shark picture yet.

Love to! Can't make it this year but that would be fun! Though in truth, I'd be a poor representative of an FJR rider. Too old and too many dependents to let it all hang out on the street just to prove a dumb point.

So let's settle this like gentlemen - First guy to have his bike strand him by the side of the road owes the other an adult beverage. What's that? Ghost-in-the-CAN bus/psycho-brake/glass-chin-of-a-rear-drive not up to that kinda action?
