K1200GT Production Schedule and Options for 2007 Model Year

Jeff,

My dealer told me that the Xenon lights weren't available when I put my name on one that's going into production.

Is this confirmed? Any idea the additional cost?

Probably, like the Advanced Stability Control, the Xenon lights won't be added until later. Then again, they were supposed to be on this year's model, but didn't pass DOT certification. If I recall correctly, I believe the Xenon option for the GT was $450.

Anything definitive on whether the tire pressure sensors can be retrofitted to the 06 GTs and at what cost?

Thanks Jeffe

Unknown at this time. I would assume that it will be retrofittable, but I have no idea of cost.

Got it, thanks.

So what's your take, honestly does it burn you that your 06 lacks the latest features?

I can't say I'm too upset, personally. I find my brakes to be very, very responsive, and I don't feel that I'm missing anything by not having traction control. The Xenon light would be nice, but I'm pretty happy with my current light. The tire pressure would be a nice thing, and I'm hoping to upgrade, but I won't lose sleep over it. You?

Not at all. I have 8000 miles on the best motorcycle I have ever ridden. The guys waiting for the '07 will get theirs just in time for winter.

I would have missed this: http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11768

Yeah, this is what I'm concerned about!!! I'm planning on taking an around-the-country ride in September and was hoping to do it on the GT, but my dealer tells me it's supposed to go into production this coming week.

From everyone's experience, how long did it take from the time BMW put the bike into production until it was delivered to the dealer. I'm in eastern PA, so it might be a little shorter time period from dock to dealer, but my guess is overall the time will be about the same (give or take a week)

I've been told it takes 2 weeks from factory to BMWNA warehouse. Then it takes up to 10 days after that.

Tyre Pressure is retro fittable

I have just received the latest brochure for the GT, following my test ride. It clearly states that the RDC Tyre Pressure Control will be available from Autumn 2006 as an option or a retrofittable accessory. My dealer was also positve that it could be retrofitted, but they have not yet received any costing details. OK, so this is a UK brochure, but that should make no difference, other than possibly date of availability.

I was at the dealer yesterday, they said there was still no word from NA on an upgrade kit for the HID.

Also said there was no reason for me to order an 07 yet, since ASC wasn't going to be available on the first '07's and probably not even until near the end of the cycle.

Well, ElJeffe, you've convinced me to wait until 2007!

I'm in Allentown also. Just picked up an '06 LT from Hermy's in Port Clinton, but would like to test a GT as soon as one comes in.

Is Hermy's your dealer too?
