Greg, you've ordered an '07 GT already? And expect to receive it in less than a month? I thought the traction control and tire monitors wouldn't be available until January?

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

That's what you keep saying...but I'm finding that hard to believe. I didn't think production was going to start up again until after "Holiday", aka August. Until I see the pics of the GT in your garage...I'm not believing that you're taking delivery in August.

I hope, for your sake, that I'm wrong.

holiday in the BMW factory was canceled for the 2nd time in history this year

2 years ago... when the 12GS was so popular.... the folks at the factory were give the "OPTION" of working to get a lot of bikes made

the economy in germany sucks just like it does in the US right now.... so, folks needed the money and almost 100% stayed

this year.... same thing
over 90% will stay
production will NOT cease
- BMW knows that with the FJR around and the economy the way it is, it's time to TAKE ADVANTAGE OF BUYERS WHO HAVE MONEY IN HAND.... by making the bikes as soon as possible

makes great sense to me
so...
mine is either made or will be made in the next couple of days

no haps for me
hate those guys....
they are HONDA dealers.... BMW has always been an AFTERTHOUGHT to those folks

i'll buy from Eurocycles of Tampa Bay
www.bmwrides.com
nice folks there... especially David Picou... the sales manager (for years) who's become my friend as well

i have tons of friends south of me who buy from haps, happily...
the dealership (i end up there at least once a month with those friends) is DISGUSTING inside
the bikes MIGHT be a few hundred cheaper, but that place hasn't been updated in decades

i have never liked folks who don't put profit BACK into a business

I liked haps shop wish I had bought mine there actually, I bought both of ours from david at Tampa david was good to deal with, too bad he doesn't run the service department.

The service dept sucked big time when I had problems over and over again with the same stuff, I won't go back. in fact they almost made me a NON bmw lover they treated us so poorly, after spending over 40k dollars there!

David was a pretty decent guy though. too bad about the rest of the place good luick if when you have serious problems.

hmmmm
how long ago was that?
i have always had good luck with TODD and his service staff....
but, you DO live far away, i guess and repeated problems do suck

the only problem i have with them is the freakin' high cost of repairs
..........
but the MIAMI ducati/mv shop charges $122.50/hour..... so we can't complain, i guess

on another note
the dealer won't budge on setup and delivery..... which pisses me off

of coruse, they think they are giving me too much for my 2 trades

i have no choice but to deal with them IF i want the 2 bikes

Post My GT Purchase Experience

When I bought my LT back in August of '02, Sills was the only game in my town. They have been great. Now we have another dealer, all shiny and new, on the east side of town. So I gave both the opportunity to bid on my GT purchase. Sills gave me their proposal. No hassle, no bs. The new guy wanted $1,000 down non-refundable and quoted MSRP plus a ton and a half for the top case. He also wanted to know what the Sills offer was. I told him I thought it was not right to provide the competitor's bid. He dropped his price a tad, not even close to the Sills proposal. Sills also threw in the cover and another charger FREE. Sills may be old, multi-line, but they are my choice. Anyone wants the numbers send a pm. Funny thing is BMW Munich is a client, so I keep them informed about what's going on. Indeed, it is a very small planet.

This thread isn't really heading in the right direction to me.
i've never really had the issues with bad service that you have...
i've ALWAYS thought that i've been OVERcharged in service.
i just thought that every bmw dealer overcharged

honestly, i remember the first time i tok my 2001 Suzuki GSX-R750 in for service....
they had the bike 3 hours...
charged my $124.50.....
i almost died
i couldn't believe it

here i am getting ready to buy a
2007 K1200GT and...
2007 MV Agusta Brutale 910R from my dealer in tampa (whom a lot of you don't like)
i have bought COUNTLESS bikes and spent COUNTLESS thousands of dollars aftermarket with them
and they won't give me a break on:
1. setup and delivery
2. first service on either bike (probably $600.00/bike at 600 miles)

so...
it's friday and i'm ready to make a huge financial blunder (what else is new for me?) but trading in my 10 month old 2005 R1200GS, taking a very very large bath....

thanks for the confusion guys

yeah
we all know how bmw dealerships operate
3 entirely separate corporations
sales
service
parts
so....
when the sales guys THROWS in the 1st service.....
HE has to pay for it
because service give discounts to NO ONE

i'd settle for a concession that allows me to buy several farkles AT DEALER COST at the time of the sale of the 2 bikes
but....
i don't suppose THAT would be worth asking for... since they are UNlikely to relent on THAT issue

there is no right or wrong direction, just two different expereinces is all, I actually had a good time dealing with David there, yes they got thier money, gave some deals on extra's but he was fun to deal with, that is actually how i ended up with the mauve LT long story but funny

everyplace has the hourly fee, being a tech for many many years I understand that however if they are honest about the hours to do the job, the fee isn't bad,

I never quite understood how one BMW dealer could be (saying they ) charge about the same per hour as another bmw dealer yet have HUGE difference in prices for the same job,

take the 12k service once, 800+ bucks down there, (dang near a grand at Daytona) cut it darn near in half up here still at 70 bucks per hour rate

go figure

you didn't dampen it and please don't be sorry
i've spent 100s of hours in that place... just milling around even when i wasn't on my bike
i know those guys VERY well..... and service treats me ok
but, the COST of doing business there is really ridiculous

because it would be FAR easier.... and cheaper if i loved japanese bikes

cheaper service.... etc
