Unhappy K1300 GT Concerns

Just throwing this out. I'm concerned about my 2010 K 1300 GT. I had purchased it a year ago from the servicing dealer with 20K miles on it. I haven't ridden it more than 2500 miles this year and have some doubts.
This is my first BMW and I thought with the service performed by the dealer and the condition of the bike I was making a good purchase.
The first thing was the SERVICE reminder that came on my display this spring, the manual says to take it back to the dealer once a year for it's check up and they will turn the reminder off. I am a mechanic and with less than 2000 miles on the bike, I don't feel a service is necessary. There is no scheduled service mileage stated in the manual. Why?
Secondly, recently I am getting a "Check Oil" message while idling occasionally. The oil level is full and I have no leaks. I was wondering if they are known for oil pump issues.
Third and Fourthly, I am noticing a slight or slow throttle response when colder temps (-50 deg. F) while pulling under slight load or accelerating up a grade. I have also heard of a Fuel pump or seal recall.
Just a few concerns I'm throwing out there. I intend to purchase a repair CD and will bite the bullet and call the dealer to see what light they will shine on this matter.

Re: K1300 GT Concerns

Oil light usually just has a check mark next to it. Its only telling you all is OK.

Now your other concerns.....search the web for K1200/1300GT problems.
These were some of the worst engineered BMWs ever...but...if you address these concerns its a great bike. I know that doesn't sound right but they are great bikes...when they work.

I have the beta test year...2006, the first year. Although I do have some throttle issues which I have attempted all the fixes and I have addressed other concerns I still ride it...only 54,000 miles so far. Its should last a few more years.

The service required light will come on annually as well as with mileage. It can be reset using a GS 911 tool or by the dealer.

Re: K1300 GT Concerns

I have a (new to me) 2009 K1300GT and I love it. I get the service reminder (April 2015) in the display at each start up but it goes out. There are a few quirks but you should have most of them taken care of with the 2010 model. If you have the TPM system and have the display on tire pressure you should see the oil come on in place of it when you stop. It will eventually end up with a check mark if the level is OK. The GS I had actually said OK after Oil. But the check mark is all you get or the word low. Very short production run on the 1300 and this one sat at the dealer since April of this year. Not a big seller unless you find the right buyer. Enjoy. Some good info on I-bmw and K-bmw sites for the GT.

Fuel pump was replaced on my 2009 this year under warranty. Oil message with a check mark is good, <!> means check the level. The low oil icon may come on during hard braking.

All true, but allow me to add one comment: The oil status may show "- - -" in the display. This is neither good nor bad. It just means that the system has not yet determined the oil status yet. Ride a little more and it should change to a check mark at your next stop.

Repeating what was said above, the oil status does not display while you are moving. It changes to another display (on my K1200GT - the tire pressures).
