Question Top box . . . to paint, or not to paint?

I'm thinking of getting just the silver part painted to match the GT's gorgeous 'Deep Blue Metallic'. What do you think?

Joe:

This is a no-brainer. Paint it to match! BMW should paint them to match right from the factory IMHO. Looks hokey in silver. Dick

Ya know, if you would have got the Crystal Grey, you wouldn't have to worry about it. LOL.

Nice blue, man. Still haven't seen it outside of a dealership yet. I bet it just shines in the sun.

Is this a trick question?

Yes. Paint it.

BTW: I see you bought the optional BMW K1200GT gasoline pump in a contrasting shade. Cool. Bet that makes fill-ups a lot easier, but doesn't it drag your mileage way down?

Nope. We like our Light Silver Nolans. They're more visible, and cooler than a dark color.

Exclamation The order has been placed!

I put a call into my shop. Their setting up the work with their painter. They say that he's really good...and guarantees his work. (And uses the correct paint...I can't remember the name at the moment.) So...after my little southernly jaunt this weekend, I'll take it in next week for the makeover. Pics to follow.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Paint the whole thang!

Hi Joe
My 04 GT was the same color as your new one. I mounted the standard BMW top box (all black plastic) after modifying the bracket to fit the rear carrier section. I had the top box painted the exact color - the whole box, and the painter incorporated the GT logo across the top of the box in a light purple. The result was amaizing. I also had a back rest made for my missus. Awesome bike, but now I got my new Lounge SuiTe

Color code the whole box!

Regards

Birdman

Impossible. I'm assuming you had an Orient Blue GT. Mine is 'Deep Blue Metallic'. Which is a much more rich and luxurious color. Oh . . . and MANLY!

Paint the *bottom* to match the bike & leave the silver top to match the frame.

That's product placement, he gets $5 from PowerAid for every photo that get published/posted. Kind-a like "Pro Deal"
