Randy hooked me up with a Cee Bailey's shield. How or why he had two...don't ask me?!
Maybe he's selling them out of the back of his truck now.
(Thanks Randy! You da man!
FYI: I am 6'3", with a 34" inseam. And I sit very tall. (whatever that means?)
I was hesitant about taking the shield because +6 just sounded so big. But, I took my chances. (And I didn't want to wait.)
The shield arrived on time, yippee! I unpacked the +6 and it look BIG! Then I removed the OEM 'tall' shield, and installed the CB. WOW!!!
(OK...I'll skip the melodrama and get to my point.)
The wife and I went out last night. We rode at varying speeds and the shield at varying heights. On the way home last night, the sky opened up...BIG TIME! Another good test. Tonight, I went out by myself for about 70 miles. Upon arriving at home, the temps dropped down to 60į. Not cold by any means, but cool enough to get a good idea of what wind protection it's really providing.
The results are 'IN'.
I love it!!! NO more buffeting, or 'dirty' air. SWEET! And it's so quite. The wife loves it too! And knowing what I know now, I might
order a +5, but I don't think I'd go any shorter. Keep in mind that CB's measurements are based on the OEM lower shield. Most of us, (if not all) have the 'tall' shield. In other words, the BMW 'tall' shield is a +2.5". So my +6" is only 3.5" taller than the shield that came with my GT.
: I am able to look over the shield until the last 1/3 of height adjustment. For you LT owners, this shield is almost identical in functionality as my CB #2 -2" on my LT.
: It does cover about a 1/3 of the mirrors at times, but I don't see this as a problem at this time. More importantly is the wind and rain protection that the extra width is providing.
: Perfect! 'Nuff said.
: I haven't detected any yet, up to 80mph.
HTH . . . Questions?
