Anyone use USA-SPEC audio adapter instead CD changer?

Hi, all:

I have a 6-disc CD changer on my '01 LT. The radio itself is of later vintage, replaced under warranty (I am guessing, about 2003) - it contains a single CD player in the unit.

I am removing the changer and have been hoping to be able to feed the output of my (non-Apple) MP3 player into that port.

Circuit City carries a product by USA-SPEC, p/n DF-BMW, which claims to be able to emulate the factory CD changer and to provide 2 selectable audio inputs.

I installed the adapter, but had no success. The radio does display CD-6, track 1 as called for by the manual, but that is all. I am not able to change the track to 2 (selecting other audio input) and the audio signal from either input does not get through.

I exchanged the adapter, but the replacement performed the same way. I reinstalled the changer and that worked correctly, thus I do not suspect any failure on bike's side.

Did anyone use this adapter? Any success? It would be really useful in my setup and I had great hopes for it...

Thanks!

USA Spec CD Interface

You might want to check this thread. I thought the USA Spec might work. USA Spec Tech support said no.

USA Spec Thread

What I am using currently is an I-Jet remote interface from the ipod in the tank bag, going to a Baehr intercom input.

I have not been able to find an IPOD interface that works on the 2005 that displays songs and is controlled by the K1200LT radio.

Thanks for the note. Looks like no-go for the adapter.

I'll be returning it for credit. Luckily I have another equivalent method to get my tunes: FM relay for my sat radio and the AUX connector for MP3 player. I installed the AUX cable from Bavarian Motorsports and it works.

Just like others experienced it, the volume is low, but I will be adding the amplifer kit from Canakits,

Will post my experiences.
