Re: Bluetooth intercom ... YES! ... AT LAST!!!

I was wondering if it is the Shark SHKMF6 from Shark Motorcycle Audio. I ran across this system for two complete units $111. It is less than half the cost of Sena and the rest, I only found a few reviews and some good and some not. I was wondering if anyone has ever purchased these. Shark evidently is big in the Motorcycle sound systems and is now doing communication systems. I presently have the J&M elite wired system in both helmets which works great except the connector cables go bad and the price to replace them is ridiculous, and is as much as the bluetooth systems.

Re: Bluetooth intercom ... YES! ... AT LAST!!!

I can't believe you are going to leave us hanging......I am in search of a blue tooth setup to use on my 2001 K1200LT. I have the J&M Elite but would love to go wireless. Does anyone know if you can add a bluetooth setup and still use the installed stereo or would the bluetooth just work for passenger comms and phone comms?

The only way I know to get Bluetooth on a stock radio is to tap into the wiring to the speakers with a Bluetooth transmitter and the got with some Bluetooth headset that is paired to the transmitter.

Nope ... not so much. But, a good guess knowing the trials and tribulations of Bluetooth intercoms.

We ALMOST have a winner. You got the correct make, just not the model. But each of their models will depend on what your application is. The Shark SHKMF6 doesn't have a feature that I really like on the unit I've selected.

I bought the Shark SHKMAX4-D. It's a dual-pack ... more on that later. I spent $160 shipped to my door, and the wife and I are extremely pleased with this setup.

With this model, the intercom unit has a Rider headset port, AND a Passenger headset port. So, one way that we will be using this setup is that my wife will simply just plug her headset into my unit. We have CONSTANT intercom that is clear as a bell ... AND the Bluetooth music that is being sent to my intercom can easily be heard by her when I simply toggle a switch on the bottom of the unit. Yes, the cord connecting our helmets defeats the purpose of being entirely wireless, but the benefit far out-weighs the cost. AND, while we're using one unit, the other unit can be charging in the tankbag.

We also tested the units as two separate Bluetooth intercoms and the functionality was, again, very impressive. The only thing we couldn't do was share music from one Bluetooth music source. That is easily remedied with a KOKKIA A10m MULTI-STREAM Bluetooth Stereo Transmitter if you feel the need to go that route. We're going to try living without it, because I don't want to have to change yet another device.

Well, there you have it. We're headed down to the Smoky Mountains next week ... I'll submit a full review after that trip.

Re: Bluetooth intercom ... YES! ... AT LAST!!!

Glad you found something you like. I ended up with the G9x and we love ours. The only down side is it only does one function at a time. So if I'm on the phone with Brett and Gretchen wants to talk her head sets says I'm busy.

Re: Bluetooth intercom ... YES! ... AT LAST!!!

Thanks for the info Joe. At that price it would appear that this device will be hard to beat. Have to ask though, will it pair to multiple Bluetooth inputs? For example, my SENA allows me to pair to a Bluetooth transmitter connected to the OEM bike audio, a Garmin GPS, and a 2 way radio Bluetooth interface and still function as a rider passenger intercom. Inquiring minds want to know.

As my phone kinda acts like the liaison for all of my Bluetooth devices, the Shark only needs to connect to my phone. But I will try to do some testing to see if it's able to do what the SENA does.
