For those that do not know Senna have released an upgrade to their SMH10.

It is a Beta so user beware, I have not installed it on my system (yet.)

The email I received is as follows;

These new functions will also be reflected in other products like the SMH10R, SPH10 lines, SMH5 lines and more in the near future. To read the quick guide for the new functions, please click here .

You can upgrade your firmware using the new Device Manager software. The firmware upgrade service is provided only to the registered users so please be sure to register your products online and read the beta software disclaimer before you download the firmware.

Re: Sena SMH10 Firmware Version 4.3 Beta Released

I just completed the install of the new firmware. It failed on first try first device, hung and would not complete install. I had to kill the software and factory reset the first SMH10 through the hole in the back. Second install on first device went fine no issues, installed on my second device also no issues.

Fired up my iPad tunes and connected the first device to it, followed the share instructions and worked great. Connected and disconnected several times with no problems.

Went back the the install software and was able to add speed dial numbers to both devices. I have not yet tried the speed dial function...testing.

Testing on speed dial completed, it works fine...After the firmware upgrade they "strongly" recommend you reset the pairing. I would change that to a must reset all pairing.

I received the email also but have to admit to reading "beta" as a red flag. Very interested in the results experienced by those who install it, I am not interested in sharing tunes since I ride solo, but like the speed dialing option.

See my edited post above..works. You only have options for three numbers, I added them in via the Sena software manager.

Sounds neat, but why can't they make it switch to intercom mode w/ voice activation instead of pressing the jog dial button?

Re: Sena SMH10 Firmware Version 4.3 Beta Released

I problem that I had was even using the BMW radio via bluetooth to me riding solo, the sound quality to my earbuds was crappy. I think that the problem is with the BMW Radio's BT. When I went with the BT dongle option and tapped the BT dongle directly to the rear speaker wires, the sound improved dramatically. I am not going to mess with any firmware updates unless the sound quality problem has been cleaned up. I have a 2012 RT.

+1 on that. I have much better quality with SM10 dongle and Autocom noise filter tapped directly into speaker wires.

Which BT dongle did you purchase? Battery powered or direct power connection?
Thanks

The Sena SM10, which has a rechargeable battery and can handle 2 channels (driver and passenger).

Re: Sena SMH10 Firmware Version 4.3 Beta Released

SM10 is what I used with a USB connection to the bike power, so that it charges all the time. The K1600 has a built in USB port, but there are other ones available. You also need the Autocom piece to tap into the speaker wires and it gives you the 3.4 mm plug to plug into the SM10. I can't find the part number right, but a search will probably bring it up.
