Looking to Add a Comm System

I'm looking for a comm system to enhance 2 up riding. Other uses would include a cell phone and connection with an iPod Nano. I have a Shoei helmet and just got a new Nolan for the wife. With the multiples of choices out there, I'm sure someone has already researched in-depth. If I had to buy something today, it would probably be a Scala, however any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Looking to Add a Comm System

I'm looking into adding an Auto-Com SPA-2 to my Christmas list. I tend to prefer hard-wired, but that's personal preference. Less batteries to recharge.

Re: Looking to Add a Comm System

I am looking at Sena SMH5, but what I want out of it is just the bluetooth links to my various devices, all at once. SMH5 is a bluetooth comm. system, but if I was really after a comm. system, I probably want to look at the SMH10. Both uses bluetooth and can synch up with multiple units, which means that you can also communicate bike-to-bike. Look at the reviews on www.webbikeworld.com

Re: Looking to Add a Comm System

For 2 way radio communication I'm looking at a throat mic that was reviewed in WebBikeWorld.

Re: Looking to Add a Comm System

I have Scala Rider G4 units for my wife and me, which also work with my brother's Scala Rider Q2 for three-way conversations. Wireless music via bluetooth from my iPod, iPhone, Sirius Radio, or my phone, GPS or Radar Detector, or whatever else, works flawlessly. I just picked up a Sena SM10 (not to be confused with the SR10) so the wife and I can now listen to the same music source rather than each having to pair to separate music sources. We can then also hear the GPS commands or radar detector alerts at the same time. It works great.

1978 Yamaha DT400E, because I just can't leave the sound of a two-stroke behind...

Re: Looking to Add a Comm System

I've used a Starcom unit, SENA bluetooth headset and I'm now using an Autocom wired system. My preference by far is the autocom unit, it's only weakness is the wire.

Starcom: Horrible headsets, went thru 4-5 in a couple of years.

SENA: Love the bluetooth, when it works. Went thru 2 headsets in a few months. Sena was great about replacing them. The day the 3rd set arrived I sold it.

Autocom: The headsets are much more robust than the Starcom versions.

My setup:
1. Garmin Zumo 550 w/XM Radio, wired to the autocom.
2. Iphone: paired to the Zumo
3. Ipod: Wired to the autocom.

Works everytime!

Re: Looking to Add a Comm System

I'm very pleased with my Interphone F3 (I think, could be an F2). Brilliant sound quality. Excellent mic (people calling don't even realise I'm on a bike) huge standby time on a charge. Works seamlessly with my phone and Nav lll.
