Hi, Dan - I think you made a good decision in ordering the Cardo Scala G4 system. Lotsa folks here on the forums have 'em and the general consensus is they are pretty happy with the performance overall. I just did a quick search using Cardo Scala and came up with nearly 70 threads that each mention Cardo Scala systems. Lots of posts. I don't advocate you reading all of them, but just a few will show you that it's a popular unit with good results following installation.

You can click here for some reading material. I'd home in on the latest date threads, as a suggestion. And when your system arrives, if you need info to help with the install, it looks like many folks will be able to assist. Good luck, Dan. And welcome to the forums, btw. Ride safe.

I have it and so do a couple of my riding buddies. I've used it for over a year and it works great. Would certainly buy it again if I needed another set.

Good luck with it.

I also have one which I use for tunes, phone, and gps from my Zumo. If you wear ear plugs, the placement of the "speakers" is critical to get proper volume and the FM radio sometimes has trouble finding stations in rural areas. That said, I would recommend it.

enjoy!

Re: Just ordered the Scala 4G system, anyone using it?

I've got many thousands of miles in all kinds of weather on my G4 using it with my pillion's Q2, and my brother's Q2 on his bike. The three of us can carry on three-way conversations. And it's nice to have wireless music from my iPod. Works great!

As noted previously, speaker placement is critical. If you have the speakers placed correctly (directly on your ear canals), the volume is more than adequate, even with ear plugs.

Knife, What do you mean by wireless music from the ipod? Don`t you need a cable from the ipod to the scala?. I`m in the process of deciding if I get one of those and that`s what keeps me from buying it. Instead minus well keep the J&B with the one cable then.

I have the G4 and it works great ........... EXCEPT..........I changed phones to a Blackberry Bold and now there seems to be a problem in getting the cell to work properly with it.

Anyone using a G4 with a BB Bold that has everything working fine? Would like to hear from you.

Thanks

Re: Just ordered the Scala 4G system, anyone using it?

My experience with Bluetooth is not so positive. Bluetooth seems great for 1 or 2 inputs/gadgets, anything more and it cannot handle it. So for someone who wants it to just communicate with a passenger, or another bike, or solo rider wanting to hear say GPS instructions, or listen to a MP3 it is fine. In my case I have gone back to a hard wired system, as I want to not only communicate with my wife as a passenger, but hear radar prompts, GPS instructions and MP3. When I tried doing all the above Bluetooth crashed. With a good hard wired system, all devices work together seamlessly.

Mechanic; If you have an ipod touch it has blutooth capabilities and will stream music to whatever bluetooth headset you have.
