Re: Best Performance/Best Value Bluetooth/Intercom
I have a Garmin 665.
This provides me with Stereo Bluetooth XM radio, MP3 Nav, Weather, Traffic Red Light Camera Alert and pairs perfectly with both the headset I have listed below and my Blackberry Storm.
The headset I use is J& M HS-BLU277EDR-FF, I believe they just updated their software to V.14 and the new part # is HS-eblu629edr-FF
The new V.14 software was desisgned to further improve the rider/passenger wireless intercom feature.
I have V.12 software I believe and was told by J & M the best way for rider/Passenger was to plug the passenger's non-BT headset into the back of my control module. But I believe the new software, (and by the way thier units are software upgradeable) does a better job of wireless rider/passenger intercom as well as simultaneously pairng to the Zumo and the phone parirnig to the Zumo.
I also sent my helmet down to J& M to have the speakers and Mic installed. Shoei helmets are more difficult to install the in-helmet mic into, since I use a Full Face and a boom won't work.
I actually bought my headsets and had the install done by a Gal who sells the stuff up the street from J & M and sells it and does installs at quite a discount. She was very, very helpful and responsive. I'll find her name and website if you are interested.
J & M Speakers have excellent sound quality and there customer service has been unsurpassed!
You need no central communication unit other then the Zumo for this to work. The only thing it does not provide is bike to bike. Which I had no interest in for the extra cost to make that availalble.
The Older I Get, the Faster I Was!
