Autocom adapter for 99 Lt

I have a old Euro-com that I bought off e-bay and it has worked flawlessly for the last two years. I am trying to install it in my (new to me) 99 Lt and read in some past threads that I need an adapter to wire into the rear speakers or I could cause damage to the unit or the bike's stereo. I called Autocom--they want 58 pounds...I think that is like 165 dollars...or more!

I have always plugged an MP3 player into the Autocom for music and of course enjoyed the intercom with my better-half. If I cannot find another solution I will just continue doing what I've always done and just use an MP3 player. It's just a disappointment not to be able to connect to the bike's stereo and CD player. Is there any other options out there?
