Auto Comm + Heave rain = LOUD SCREECHING STATIC ^$^##@@##$&^^$

Has this ever happened to you? I was riding back from the fish tank the other day and got caught in a really heavy rain. I was listening to FM radio through the intercom ( five pin Auto Comm) and all of a sudden a loudest screeching static noise came through the headset speakers. I first turned off the radio, thinking I had hit static and when the noise didn't stop, I quickly disconnect the audio cable. I'm surprised that I can hear as the noise really was deafening!

All I can think of is that rain got into the cable connection and shorted out something. A day later the cable connection is dry and there is no unwanted noise. I ride in the rain occasionally and this was a first. I might have pulled the connection before the ride and that allowed the rain to seep in. Gona be extra careful next time....

Yup, I've heard that screech a few times
after riding through a "frog strangler" rain storm,
goes away when everything dries out,
I always thought is was my mike.
come to think of it my 2002 did it also.
The only thing those two bikes have in common is my headsets.
