CB goes back to channel 9 when ignition is off.

My 03 Lt has the ComSytem with the Midland CB (portable), when the key is turned off the channel goes back to 9. Is this normal? I just purchased the bike and the system didn't work at all until I found the accessory power harness relay was missing. I have a relay in it now but maybe it is the wrong relay. If anyone has a cb like this I would appreciate any help. Thanks. Duane

I think that this is normal with any cb that uses outside power. I had a midland and now have a cobra that does the same thing. The cobra will not revert back to channel 9 until it sits for over two hours with no power.

Duane,

That is the way it works on the BC-3 system. There were 2 different CB's that were standard....one of them reverted to Ch 9 every time you turned the key off and the other would stay on the channel that you put it on for a period of a few hours with the key off ( capacitor I think ), then revert back to Ch 9. Both units were Midland and I think one was the 830 and the other the 822.
