Oops! Faulty memory. You are right.
This 2000 email from Randy Prade from the old K1200LT website confirms that the BC1/2 were made by Sikom:
RE: [k1200lt] Re: intercom system bc-3
The BC-2 is a minor upgrade to the BC-1. It had the addition of a
6-position VOX control on the front to allow you to adjust the sensitivity
of the intercom for varying conditions. The BC-3 is the number (not
officially acknowledged by BMW) given to the replacement unit that is due
sometime next year. The BC-1 and BC-2 were manufactured by Sikom, which has
subsequently gone out of business. BMW has found a new vendor to develop a
replacement intercom. J&M unofficially seems to confirm that they are
developing the replacement, yet they "officially" deny that they are
building it. BMW has said that they are developing a new system but haven't
given a firm date for release or stated who the manufacturer is.
I do agree that the BC-1 (or BC-2) is one of the best sounding
music/intercom systems I have had on a bikeEven the staff at Wing World (a
GoldWing publication) gave it high marks over the factory system on a
GoldWing. The sound quality of the BC units is better than the Autocom and
much better than the Honda (Clarion sold by Sierra), which I have also
tried. It is one of the only true VOX systems offered. The main complaint
about the BC-1/2 has been the poor interface for CB. BMW A.G. never
considered the CB to be important and it was clearly developed for the US
market as an afterthought.
Just ride it!
