Voice II - PTT Installation

Does anyone have any instructions on how to install a Push To Talk button on a K1200LT with a Voice II?

I'm not concerned about the tupperware removal procedures, I am wondering if there is a connector on the back of the Voice II unit to plug into.

Is the correct part #65 412 337 302 for a 2007. The BMW Motorrad catalog refers to it as the "Push to Talk Retrofit for CB & FRS Kit."

Thanks,

Jim S.

I think if you look under the left handle bar cover the wires are already there.
At least they are on my 07 LT.

Ya the wires are under the left handlebar cover. You just go buy the switch mount it and then hook it up, I think there are four connectors on the switch and two wires from the loom under the cover.

Same part number for '05? Is the wiring pigtail there as well?

Another thread on this site has a different part number listed. # 99 00 0 001 530. I am not sure if that # is correct or the the one listed in the BMW Motorrad catalog (#65 412 337 302 "Push to Talk Retrofit for CB & FRS Kit").

Both numbers come up on the Chicago BMW parts search screen.

The correct wiring hooks the loom wires to an opposed set of contacts. One pair hooks it up normally closed and the other normally open. If you hook it up to an opposed pair of connectors and your radio no longer works without pushing the button, you have it backwards. Swap to the other pair of contacts, then retest. It helps to have an FRS radio plugged in to see it he little transmit code comes on when you push the button.
